14th December brought an end to this year’s winter series, which saw some great close racing from all levels. Congratulations to Paul Wilson for winning this season’s concourse even though his shell had been painted and stuffed in his RC cupboard for over a year!

Starting off with heat 1, Michael Terry was to take the first 2 wins and looked confident for the third, however Jack Sparrow was to come through and blitz the field in his final run with 3 laps clear of Michael in 2nd!

Heat 2 saw a battle between Chris Ratcliffe and Neil Nutter with Chris taking a comfortable win, only to have Neil repay back the favour in round 2. Scott Wilson had a problem with his Photon which stopped him putting a qualifying time in on round 2, but with the help of his pitting crew getting him out of a sticky situation, Scott put a respectable FTQ in round 3 finishing 2nd just behind Chris’ Photon.

Heat 3 gave chance for new comer Marc Baynham to make his stamp taking round 1 with ease. Despite making a mistake, Marc claims the second round with Scott Scholey close behind in 2nd. Round 3 saw the return of Gary Plant taking top honours leaving the rest of the field behind by at least 2 laps.

Round 4 saw the Captain take all three strikes leaving Mike Kitchen Cabinet, Paul Wilson and Eddie Knill to battle it out for 2nd, 3rd and 4th.

The Finals

With only 4 drivers in the D final, saw a surprise David Bonsall due to not completing a race all evening. David took the easy victory leaving a close race between Darren Hutchinson and Mick Gratton. Darren just took 2nd with Mick 3rd and Jake Rowney 4th.

The C Final Kicked off with bookies favourite Paul Hindmarsh on pole, Keep Calm & Carry On Paul Rhodes on 2nd leaving Tony Lewis on 3rd. It was to be a very close final between Paul H, junior Sparrow and senior Sparrow. All 3 had the lead at some point but it came down to who could hold their nerve. Jack finally took the win with Paul in 2nd and Andrew taking 3rd all on 17 laps.

Moving onto the B Final, Scott “spur gear” Scholey made pole with Simon Farrow 2nd and Matt Rhodes on 3rd. Despite Scott’s T4 having a snapped top deck on the start of the final, Scott manage to put his best run in taking a comfortable win on 20 laps.  Simon followed on 19 laps with Brad moving from 6th on the grid to just taking 3rd with 4th and 5th only on second behind him.

A Final saw the Captain on pole with Eddie Knill 2nd and Kitchen cabinet 3rd. Despite the lead changing on the first lap the top 3 where to finish in order with James and Eddie on 22 laps and Mike on 21. A close race further down the field between Scott Hazelwood and Lewis Briggs finishing within 5 tenths of a second of each other.

Over all a great meeting and a fantastic end to the series. A special thanks for everyone involved in making Doncaster one of the best clubs going. Hope to see you all next season, Happy Xmas and bring on next seasons Racing.......!!!
