A very technical track gave us some challenging racing at the 2010 Winter Trophy meeting.  A total of 38 drivers competing which is a reasonable turn out considering the weather!

After 3 rounds of 4 heats of extremely close racing on a challenging track which pushed all the drivers to their limits the finals stacked up like this:

The D Final saw Andrew Sparrow in pole position after some good consistent racing during the heats, closely followed by Harry Fox and young Jack Sparrow in third. Andrew didn’t have a good start allowing 4 position qualifier David Bonsall to quickly take the lead. Andrew quickly regained ground after putting in some fast laps to make up time the best of the race being a 12.58! Harry Fox had a very consistent run but did hit a bit of traffic mid race. After a tense few final laps David took the win with 21 laps after an excellent run followed by Andrew Sparrow on 20 laps with a well deserved second and Harry Fox coming in 3rd with 19. Young Jack Sparrow came in a well deserved 4th on 18 laps.

The C Final lined up with Barrie Scholey taking the pole, new comer Tony Lewis in second and Thomas Fox in third. After a reasonably clean start Andy Sherburn turned out the faster first lap at 13.9 seconds as the race went on Ian Biddleston stormed through the pack to take the lead. Barrie hit some issues and was pushed back to 4th with Andy “Turbo Sherbs”  held onto admirably to second position even with noticeable turbo problems. Joshua Wicks came from nowhere and secured third after and consistent run. Ian took the win after storming work with 25 laps with “Turbo Sherbs” a close second with 24. Third went to a well deserved Joshua Wicks with 22 and Barrie finish 4th with a 22.

The B Final took to the track with Wayne Wilson on pole, Daniel Brown qualifying in second and Simon Farrow in third.Unfortunately technical problems saw a non start for Wayne which saw a clean start for Daniel Brown.  Car 5 Scott Hazlewood quickly worked his way through traffic and progressed to second position. Martin Dunne worked up from 6th to 4th position with Simon Farrow holding his third position start for the entire race. This intensive final came to an end with a well deserved win from Daniel Brown with 27 laps, an excellent second finish from Scott Hazlewood with 26 and a very consistent and calm finish for Simon Farrow with 25, well done! Martin Dunne maintained and finished in 4th position.

The A Final saw James Rowney “Captain” on pole with Brad Sellars qualifying second and Chris “Swalls” Swallow in third. The running remained consistent throughout with the exception of Neil Hargraves working his way through the field into third. A challenge from Dave Bell “Big Darve” was tried but Neil held onto third. Brad Sellars maintained his second position till the end. Final result saw the Captain in first with 30 laps, Brad Sellars in second with a 28, Neil Hargraves 6 seconds behind in third also with a 28. Big Darve coming in 4th 4 seconds behind Neil also on 28.

All in all an excellent meeting with some good results, thank you all for your ongoing support.
